The Hound Hut in Wirksworth is a professional dog grooming salon which offers a comprehensive range of services. Staff are qualified and experienced and aim to offer a safe, calm and welcoming environment for their doggy clients and owners.
A £7,996 Small Business Adaptation Grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council was awarded to upgrade the dog grooming salon with modern, energy-efficient equipment, digital solutions, and staff training. It funded the purchase of a hydrobath and height-adjustable grooming tables as well as a new air conditioning system. They also invested in a tablet-based EPOS system (for seamless payments and bookings) and digital signage.
These improvements have significantly increased the efficiency and service quality of the business. The new equipment has streamlined grooming processes, allowing them to serve more clients, while the air conditioning has ensured they can operate during extreme weather. The digital solutions have simplified transactions and boosted the company’s marketing efforts and the specialist training has expanded staff skills, enabling them to offer premium services. As a result, the grant has not only helped secure existing jobs but also positioned the business for sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive market.
Drew Pritchard (Owner) says:
The grant from Derbyshire Dales District Council has allowed us to improve our grooming services, benefiting both pets and their owners. With upgraded equipment and advanced training, we can provide a more comfortable, efficient, and tailored grooming experience that promotes the well-being of every pet. Additionally, the investment in energy-efficient tools and systems has reduced our environmental impact while creating a more sustainable and eco-friendly operation
This grant was awarded by Derbyshire Dales District Council and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
