The WELLIES Project offers therapeutic learning activities with animals, plants, creativity and the countryside for people recovering from mental ill health.
The £12,000 Community Resilience Grant has enabled the company to develop staff and volunteer skills including chainsaw training, woodwork, sustainable floristry and crafts – to enable them to pass these skills onto participants.
It has also enabled more volunteers to be involved in the project and helped build the social enterprise aspect.
Julie White (Creative Director) says…
We’re very pleased to have been awarded this funding as it’s paid for training we’ve wanted to do for some time. It will help us to undertake large scale floristry installations and to adopt floristry practices that are environmentally friendly. The chainsaw and welding training will help us to develop our social enterprise activity.
