Rob Stone, a local joiner based at Riverside Business Park in Bakewell has benefitted from a £5000 Small Business Adaptation Grant to purchase new equipment. The Sedgwick CP planer thicknesser and a Wadkin BWS 20” rip table saw are enabling him to deal with timber in the raw form and machine everything from scratch, this offering a more bespoke service.
By upgrading his workshop with these 2 machines Rob can buy in timber in board format, machining to exact sections instead of the previous process of buying in standard sizes. This reduces waste, is cheaper and makes the business more efficient and competitive in the market. He can take on any project knowing that he can cut and machine the timber to whatever sections required.
Rob Stone (Owner) says:
The new planer thicknesser has enabled us to increase our capacity and allow us to machine any size of timber from scratch meaning we can offer a more bespoke range of products.
This grant was awarded by Derbyshire Dales District Council and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
